7 Transfers You Might Have Missed
We’ve seen the Sancho deal and other big name transfers this window.
However, with the crazy soccer schedule with Copa America, Euros, Olympics and more - it’s pretty common for some transfers to get lost in the shuffle.
Here’s seven transfers that you might have missed this offseason.
Joshua Zirkzee
Bayern Munich to Anderlecht (loan)
The highly regarded Dutch youngster hasn’t really been able to find his feet at club level.
At Bayern he managed a few games here and there before going on loan to Parma during the January transfer window - He didn’t make much of an impact in Italy and injured his knee.
To be honest, a bit of a dumb move all round - a club battling relegation is a hard place to send a player on loan.
Bayern hopes that Zirkzee can get a solid run of games in Belgium.
Sebastiano Esposito
Inter Milan to FC Basel (loan)
One of Inter Milan’s main attacking prospects, Sebastiano Esposito has had a bit of a rough time in the last season or so. He’s been passed around and this move to FC Basel is his third club in 18 months.
He’s going to take a step up from Serie B (where he’s been playing) - if not every day, then definitely in European competition.
Yusuf Demir
Rapid Vienna to FC Barcelona (loan with 10m option to buy)
The young Austrian has moved to Barca on loan, with an option to buy for 10m going forward.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Demir this season - he’s listed as being a part of the Barcelona B team - and it wouldn’t surpirse me if he starts there this season - Barca may not be the force they were 10 years ago but they’ve got a lot of options forward.
I think he might see some first team minutes this season - and if he hits the ground running, I can certainly see him playing a role.
Junior Firpo
FC Barcelona to Leeds United (15m)
Speaking of Barca not being what they used to be - they’ve had a bit of a fire sale because… well, a lot of reasons - mostly as a result of a mistake though.
Anyway, one sale that you might have missed is Junior Firpo to Leeds United.
This could be a great deal if Firpo adjusts well. Just don’t expect it to happen straight away, Bielsa tends to stick to his squad and only bring new blood if they’ve really earned it. Leeds’ style isn’t a ‘plug in and play’ type.
However, long term - I can see Firpo being great.
Jack Harrison
Manchester City to Leeds United (12.5m)
Harrison is one that may have caught a few off guard - mainly because he already played at Leeds last season. However, Harrison was actually still a Manchester City player on loan at Leeds up until a month or so ago.
I really rate Harrison and fully believe that he can play for England one day.
Nicolas Gonzales
Stuttgart to Fiorentina (23m)
Argentinian international, Gonzales was probably one of the more underrated Bundesliga players at Stuttgart. This move to Fiorentina came a litttle out of the blue to me - and it happened so early that I kinda forgot all about it.
Fiorentina has a decent squad these days, and I think Gonzales can be a good fit if all goes to plan.
Konrad de la Fuente
Barcelona to Marseille (3m)
An American international and hype machine, de la Fuente was talk of the town as the first American to play at Barca.
His Barcelona carrer didn’t exactly take off like many hoped it would. However, as a youngster, it’s basically impossible to make your way thtough to the first team unless you’re Pedri or something.
So, a move to Marseille is a nice little one for Konrad. Hopefully he can get some solid first team minutes this season and get a good run of first team minutes under his belt.
