I didn’t think I’d write anything today about Maradona, but after sitting on it for a day, I thought I should share some of my favorite pieces of content around the great man.
There will never be another Maradona.
Funny enough, I was planning on writing the occasional piece on legends, and Maradona was the player I’d planned to write on first. I might give the article a bit of a break now, as I don’t think it’s in good taste and doesn’t sit too well with me at the moment. If you do want to find his cards though, there’s always a wide selection on eBay.
The first thing you need to watch if you haven’t, is the doco released last year by Asif Kapadia (the guy who made Senna).
It does a great job of highlighting just how important he was to Naples, and everything around both Diego, and “Maradona”.
Here’s the trailer, but the full version is on Amazon Prime.
Secondly, I did want to share what’s one of my all-time favorite soccer related videos. It’s just Maradona warming up, but to me, says everything you need to know about how he played the game and the passion he had.
Maradona is eternal.
Keep safe,
Vince
